........ After the break taken for
Karting, Gualtiero turned to Innocenti
Lambretta. The Florentines (from Florence) remembered the challenges
between Ancillotti Lambretta and the tricked-out Gori
Vespa. Not happy with the lack-luster results obtained, the
Ancillottis decided to prepare a "special" Lambretta. On December 2,
1965 the Ancillottis "tested" a generously modified Lambretta at Monza.
Consisting of a TV 175 bored up to 202cc Alberto Ancillotti and the
second rider Italo Musolino, after several passes, obtained the
following results: taking off from a full stop Musolino reaches the 1
km mark in 29 and 7/10 seconds at 121,212 km/h. Alberto ran the quarter
mile from a full stop in 14 and 8/10 seconds at a speed of 97.875
km/h.
In November of 1966, they loaded their famous Lambretta on the roof of their Fiat 600 and took off for Elvington GB, to establish a quarter mile record starting from a full stop (15.129 seconds at 96.500 km/h) and the km run starting from a full stop at (29.343 seconds at 122 km/h). Here are some details taken from "Motociclismo" (big Italian bike magazine): Bore 66,4; stroke 58, displacement 202cc; porting; 10.5 compression; carburetor is a Dell'orto ss35B; declared horsepower is 28 at 8,000 rpm, 6% oil/(high test)fuel mixture; polished and cut crank; larger exhaust; expansion chamber; TV 175 tranny; modified forks for dual steering stabilizers; custom hand-beaten aluminum fairing. After the records the "race kits" were sold as "official" Ancillotti Lambretta "regolarita". The official Ancilloti riders were, Massai, Cozzi, Alberto and Piero Ancilloti. ... |
